How to Plan a Catered Brunch Event

Planning a catered brunch event is excellent if you need to feed many people. When planning, the challenge is choosing the right amount and types of dishes to make your guests happy. Fortunately, professional caterers take much of the stress off your shoulders when planning these events. Caterers work with you to create the perfect menu for your guests.

Know How Many People Are Coming

Your caterer can determine how much food to serve, but you must know how many people will attend your event. The more information about your guest list you can provide, the more accurately your caterer can plan.

For example, if you have 40 guests coming, but 10 of them are children, your caterer will need to know that because 10 children will likely eat much less than 10 adults, which can change the amount of food provided.

When in doubt, it’s better to over-plan than under-plan. Too little food means your guests will leave hungry, while too much food results in leftovers you or your guests can take home.

Stick to Well-Known Dishes

While brunch is known for unique twists on favorite breakfast and lunch dishes, it’s best to stick to the favorites. Not everyone at your event will want to be adventurous with their food choices. However, everyone is likely to have a favorite staple dish. Your goal with your chosen dishes is to make the most people happy with each one.

On the same topic, don’t pick too many dishes. Offering an overabundance of food choices can be overwhelming to your guests. It’s better to provide large amounts of a few dishes than small amounts of many dishes. Fewer options mean less time spent choosing. This is important whether your guests are ordering from a menu or going through a buffet line.

Consider Dietary Restrictions

You must inform your caterer if some guests have specific dietary needs or allergies. This will help ensure that the food provided is safe for all guests at your event.

When inviting your guests, it may be a good idea to ask them about diet restrictions, especially since you’re only serving a limited menu. This will make the menu best catered for everyone in attendance.

Relax and Enjoy

Once you provide the required information, your caterer will handle the rest of the planning. Hiring a professional caterer means having a delicious, beautiful meal tailored to your event and the people invited. After all, there’s nothing quite as enjoyable as the perfect brunch event.
